Seniors and people with disabilities
Age 65 or older, or permanently disabled, with household income under $72,000. Apply by April 1 each year.
Disabled veterans
Veterans rated 100 percent disabled by the VA owe no real estate tax on their home. Apply once, with the VA letter.
Surviving spouses
Spouses of service members killed in action, or of first responders killed on duty, may also qualify. Ask the Treasurer's office.
Appeal your assessment
The Assessor values every property each January from recent sales of similar property. Your notice mails in February.
If you think the value is wrong, ask the Assessor's office for a review by Friday, March 5, 2027. Bring recent sales, an appraisal or photos of problems with the property. If you still disagree, the Board of Equalization hears appeals in April.
Common questions
I never got a bill
Bills mail in early November. Not getting one does not move the due date. Look up your parcel above or call us for the amount.
My mortgage company pays my taxes
Your lender asks us for the bill directly. You still get a copy for your records and do not need to pay it yourself.
I sold my car or moved away
Tell the Assessor within 30 days, with the date of sale or move. The tax is prorated by month, and we refund any overpayment.
Why did my tax go up when the rate did not?
Your assessed value went up. The tax is the value times the rate: a $300,000 home at $0.94 per $100 owes $2,820 a year.
